    Preparation for Video Conference

    Each teacher will...
    • Show their class one big picture of a creature
    • Have their class come up with a list of creature descriptions (focus on adjectives and details)
    • Have their class give this list of their creature's descriptions to their cooperating class


    After each class has given their list and received the cooperating class’ list,
    Each teacher will...
    • Receive cooperating class’ list of their creature's descriptions
    • Read one detail/description from the list at a time and have students take turns coming up to illustrate each one until their creature is complete

    Images Your Class will Make Detailed List From:

    CLASS A - Creature
    CLASS B - Creature


    Prompts/Ideas for Teachers:
    *Focus on what good details involve (color, size, shape, direction, etc.) Teach what an adjective is

    Video Conference

    Total Time: 15-25 minutes
    • Step 1: Class A will share the illustration they came up with based on the class’ list of descriptions
    • Step 2: Class B will present the original picture of the creature
    • Step 3: Class A will discuss some similarities and differences they noticed about the real creature and the illustrated one
    • Step 4: Class B will present their illustration they developed from the other class’ list of descriptions
    • Step 5: Class A will present the original picture of the creature
    • Step 6: Class B will discuss what similarities and differences they notice about their illustration and the original creature


    Suggested Conclusion for After Video Conference

    • Discuss with your class what kind of details would have been more helpful while you were illustrating the creature (i.e. size, measurements, exact shade of color, etc.).
    • What kind of details do you think would have helped the other class more?
